These 5 Bakeries Will Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth This Holiday Season

‘Tis the season of eating fresh baked goods fa la la la la la la la la.

If you have a sweet tooth like we do, it may be difficult to stay away from treats especially this time of year. So why fight the feeling?? Enjoy the treats this Holiday season! We came up with a list of five places with baked goods to DIE FOR in Bozeman, Montana!

  1. Delicious

Co-owner Fran Zelenitz realized one day that she always wanted to own a bakery so she and co-owner Carl McCauley made it happen in 2016. Everything is made daily from scratch at Delicious, no processed sugars, or shortening - just butter, eggs, and flour. They bake all day at their location which adds to the amazing smell and bakery feel. Fran says her favorite items to bake are cakes and pies because of how pretty they are and seeing the end result.

Former wedding photographers Josh and Kathy Lockie bought the Coffee Pot from Josh’s parents, longtime owners Dave and Jennie Lockie in 2017. The history of the Coffee Pot began in 1980 with Dave and Jennie making and selling pottery. Their first customer was actually Yellowstone National Park. Josh described his childhood as going to a lot of art shows. There came a point where his parents needed a shop of their own and decided to buy a run-down cabin. They converted it into a pottery-retail store and eventually added cinnamon rolls and coffee for their customers. Next came pie, then soup, and soon enough - a full menu. Everything in 'The Coffee Pot' is totally made by hand and is good ‘ol comfort food. If you walk in you will see a lot of their customers visiting and not very many on their phones or computers. If you haven’t tried a cinnamon roll from there yet, you are missing out!

Josh’s Favorite: “Secret Menu Item”  Old Timer Breakfast Burrito smothered in the gravy for Biscuits and Gravy instead of Salsa Verde.

3. Sweet Pea

Carrie Ward is the co-owner and operator of Sweet Pea Bakery. In 2006, Carrie worked as a baker for the original Sweet Pea owners downtown after graduating from college in Graphic Design. She eventually bought the bakery and decided to move the location to West Main. It still has the original Sweet Pea feel but they’ve mastered their menu down to their specialties. They specialize in a lot of weddings and birthday cakes, cookies, pies and other treats. You may have seen some of their tasty treats at some of their various see their wholesale accounts around town at Wild Joe’s, Linley Perk at the Bozeman Library, Heebs, Gran Tree, Townsend’s Teahouse, and 14 North’s desserts.

4. Wild Crumb

Twin sisters Lauren Heemstra and Caroline Schweitzer started baking together and selling their baked goods at the Gallatin Valley Farmer’s Market in 2011 as a trial. Lauren went to culinary school in San Francisco and worked as a pastry chef in Big Sky. Caroline took baking and pastry classes and learned a lot from her mentor Todd Bennett at the Co-op. After receiving successful feedback at the market they decided to make their own business plan and go for creating Wild Crumb. Lauren and Caroline have enjoyed the community they’ve built in their neighborhood on Peach and Wallace over these last few years. Their days as business owners are busy starting at 1 a.m. and ending at 8 p.m. Everything is handmade and has a lot of detail.  The sisters are really proud of their staff and believe that they add to the warm atmosphere. “There’s a lot of passion that goes into each day,” said Caroline. “We love what we do.”

5. Elle’s Belle’s

Elle Fine started Elle’s Belle’s in her home in 2003 and has become a staple for bakeries throughout Bozeman and nationally! They’ve been featured by TLC and The Oprah Magazine. Their cookies are absolutely life changing.

We Recommend: Any Sugar Cookie or Éclair.
